Dr. Seth Scholer

Dr. Seth Scholer is a Professor of Pediatrics at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. He earned both his M.D. and his Master of Public Health from Indiana University. Dr. Scholer completed his pediatric residency training at Duke University Medical Center.

For decades as a clinician/educator, Dr. Scholer has proven himself a strong advocate for children and their families. In his clinical research, Scholer has focused on the prevention of child abuse and the improvement of population health. He has successfully developed support resources for parents to implement healthy discipline strategies.

This includes his collaboration on a multimedia program, Play Nicely, that aids parents in managing childhood aggression. His research has implications for reducing rates of many mental and physical health problems associated with Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). 

Dr. Scholer practices general pediatric medicine at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt which has been recognized as one of the best children’s hospitals in the nation for 10 different specialties by U.S. News and World Report.
