Ask Lots of Questions While You Read

What is your child curious about? What do they already know? What do they want to know? Connecting new concepts to what your child already understands can help to boost comprehension. Asking questions stimulates thinking and encourages your child to be actively engaged in the story. Questions about books and stories help children to make connections between text and pictures, allowing for open discussion before, during, and after reading a story together.  And don’t forget when children interrupt the story to ask questions of their own, that’s a great thing! This shows that they are engaged and interested.
