Nurturing Excellence in Our Community of Schools

Each year, we hold two company-wide Teacher In-Service Days to ensure Learning Care Group (LCG) teachers have the support and resources they need to provide the best experiences to children and families in our community of schools. It’s an important aspect of the care and early learning we provide.

LCG takes pride in investing in our educators and staff by offering comprehensive training, tools, and instruction to advance their careers. Our theme for the October 2024 training session was Nurturing Excellence Through Communication and Critical Thinking. Together, we focused on cultivating behaviors that will increase the quality of language-rich practices in our classrooms, reduce the risk of hazards and injuries, and create safe environments for children.

Keynote Address: The Energy Bus for Schools

While listening to the keynote message delivered by Dr. Jim Van Allan, everyone gained valuable tips about creating a positive school culture. The goal is to have a lasting impact on each child and family with intentional thoughts and actions. Our teachers are committed to applying F.U.E.L. to their school community by Feeding the positive, Uplifting their minds, Encouraging others, and Loving it! A positive mindset helps during challenges while also inspiring support, recognition, and appreciation.

Critical Thinking Skills for Work and Life

Teachers worked on things they could do to create a language-rich environment in the classroom by utilizing critical thinking skills. The goal is to offer smart solutions for each child as well as the entire school community. Some of these actions include observing and listening with an open mind, asking questions to clarify and understand, and carefully considering all options while problem-solving.

Relationship-Centered Communication

Leaders trained school community members on how to demonstrate relationship-centered communication behaviors. These include building rapport with families by creating a welcoming classroom environment, being an active listener, and approaching all conversations with curiosity to ensure understanding.

Creating Intentional Classrooms

Each classroom in our community of schools is designed with children in mind. LCG oversees 11 unique child care brands, each with a common goal of ensuring children receive a high-quality education during some of the most critical years of their development.

  • New Learning Centers
Ten of our brands are aligned with an inquiry-led approach to learning and they now contain updated learning centers to engage children in curiosity-driven experiences. We want children to explore with wonder and curiosity! Teachers act as partners in each child’s journey while ensuring they feel safe to make discoveries in a safe environment. We promote choice, provide engaging materials, and ask open-ended questions to prompt a deeper exploration.
  • Preparing Learning Environments
Our Montessori brand is unique in its authentic, self-directed approach. Teachers were encouraged to reflect on the classroom set-up, materials, and aesthetics from the point of view of a child. We want to make our learning environment appealing, beautiful, and warm so that it calls to children. The more comfortable they are, the more they will explore and challenge themselves physically, socially, emotionally, and cognitively as they grow and develop.

Certified Master Teacher Class

For teachers who aspire to grow and mentor others, we offer a Master Teacher class. During this training session, some educators learned how to improve their teaching practices through role modeling, coaching, and mentoring behaviors to encourage the growth of fellow educators.
